Just down the road from our family farm was the old yard site where one of my grandpas was born and spent the first few years of his life.

There wasn’t left of the yard site by the time we were growing up, the yard site long abandoned.

Down a hillside south of what was the yard was a clearing that would have been the site of the garden, long grown over, now a clover filled pasture for the neighbour’s cattle. All that remained where two old crab apple trees, that were covered with small, fragrant white flowers each spring.
